About Vieux Lyon (5e)

Vieux Lyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998, is among the largest Renaissance quarters in Europe, set on the Saône's right bank in the 5e. Its three sub-quarters, Saint-Jean, Saint-Paul, Saint-Georges, are stitched together by traboules (secret covered passages once used by silk merchants), crowned by the Cathédrale Saint-Jean with its astronomical clock and, above, the Basilique de Fourvière reached by funicular. Living here means cobbled lanes, hidden courtyards, authentic bouchons such as Daniel et Denise Saint-Jean, and the Musées Gadagne, but also tourist crowds and strict heritage-building constraints. The Metro D station keeps it minutes from the Presqu'île, and period apartments command a clear premium over the rest of the 5e.
