About Ciutat Vella / El Carmen

Ciutat Vella is the historic soul of Valencia, where the Cathedral and El Miguelete rise over the Plaza de la Virgen and the UNESCO-listed La Lonja faces the bustling Mercado Central. Within it, El Carme is the city's most bohemian quarter, mural-splashed lanes, independent boutiques and a famous late-night bar scene around Calle Caballeros. Living here means everything on foot: coffee at the market, a walk to the Torres de Serranos and the bordering Turia Gardens, dinner among centuries-old façades. The trade-off is dense, older housing, weekend-night noise and heavy tourist footfall, but for character and an irreplaceable address, nothing in Valencia compares.
